Native American-Somali Friendship Project

The Native American-Somali Friendship Committee is an ongoing effort to build understanding and ease tensions between thee Native American and Somali communities in Minneapolis Phillips Neighborhood.

New Native Theatre has partnered with Bedlam Theatre and the Cedar Riverside Art Zone for Youth (C.R.A.Z.Y.) to support these efforts with a year-long project of story circles, interactive creative workshops and performance events, a Native American -Somali Friendship Project. The summer of 2012 will include comedy, spoken word and performance workshops as well as outdoor cabarets and interactive story circles. Through the fall and winter, an ensemble of Native and Somali artists will use the summers stories and inspirations to create an original theater production to be unveiled in the spring of 2013 with performances throughout the neighborhood.
