WHERE NEXT???

Bedlam is leaving 1501 S. 6th. It’s true. To read more on the details, click here.

WHAT’s NEXT for BEDLAM?

Bedlam is dedicated to making Minnesota its home for many more years to come. We believe that the best way to pursue Bedlam’s mission, spread radical art, and support the broader community includes a multi-faceted, social-hub venue for the foreseeable future.

Bedlam is making plans and gathering momentum for a long-term, secure Minneapolis location. We’ve begun research into both possible support and practical solutions.

The vision for a fantastic, organic evolution for a permanent venue is taking shape. Early assessment of “perfect” sites would likely be in development for 1-3 years. We are working very seriously to make this a reality.

In the meantime, we’re considering a range of options, from reopening our full mix of activity in new temporary location as soon as the end of the year, to concepts of a 2 year venue-less existence with Bedlam events and partnerships exploding for 1-6 week incarnations all over town.

Creative partners from BOMP and Hot Pants to The Walker Art Center and Northrup Auditorium have expressed excitement to co-present with Bedlam at the-next-step-Bedlam-location(s) in 2011.

Expect to hear more on both short and long-term evolutions in the coming weeks.

WHAT CAN YOU DO???

We’ve confirmed that its super cool to let Mayor Rybak know you support Bedlam’s long term future. We ARE off to a good start talking with CPED on next steps. We ARE dedicated to a permanent home in Minneapolis. We are NOT asking for pressure to stay where we are now. Use this link, instead of the phone or email we listed previously. BEDLAM WOOO!!!! http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/forms/mayor-opinion/

Next, get your asterisks over here to Bedlam. Be here. Thank the Social Staff for their dedication to making 1501 so much fun. Only a few more weeks to eat, drink, see, and be Bedlam… in this spot.

And, of course, if you’ve got time, money and ideas you want to contribute email , tell us what you’re good at, what you like, and how you’d be most excited to plug in.

WHAT ABOUT THE LOUNGE?!?!?!?!?

Yes, yes. That is the big question. We’ve been missing a floor since May 4th.

The LOUNGE is almost done, likely to re-open this weekend.

Bedlam & volunteers helped with demolition and prep of the damaged space. There is still a little bit of outstanding $ to settle up beyond rent deduction, but just a little bit.

Fine Associates DID end up hiring a contractor to reconstruct the room, Christians Inc, and Rusty Mork and his crew have been doing an excellent job.

(The lost capacity and events from the room were a $ignificant impact for us, but support from individual donors really, really helped lessen the blow. Thank you all SOOO much.)
