Filbert at its core is singer songwriter Daniel Gutierrez. Folk songs with themes that include, but not limited to women problems, life, alcoholism, and the possible existence of God. While his music is upbeat, his lyrics hit home with thought provoking imagery that allow you into a stream of thought and personal perception. Some say his music is influenced by Neil Young, Neutral Milk Hotel, or Pedro the Lion, though it’s also influenced by a desperate desire to time travel as well as some real life experiences.
Telephone Hat exists somewhere between the illusion of control and the obstinacy of truth. In their debut album The Sky, The Ocean and The Ground, Telephone Hat uses a classical style of voice-leading with layered synth-voices to create poly-textural harmony. Although the music has electronic and classical elements, the songs on the album are structured to fit snuggy in the ‘pop’ category.
The Word Party is an exciting new pop culture phenomenon sweeping the city at a rate not unlike the mythological bullet trains from ancient Japan.
