THURSDAY MAY 20, 2010, PATCHES AND GRETCHEN BRINGING IT ALL REALLY BACK HOME! A BENEFIT FOR THE WHITE PLUME FAMILY’S HORSE SPIRIT SOCIETY!

About the HORSE SPIRIT SOCIETY:

SUNG NAGI OKOLAKICIYE is the Lakota wording for “Horse Spirit Society” a
501c3 organization on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota
that supports traditional Lakota culture and values by offering horse
camps to youth and visitors to Pine Ridge. We conduct about 3-5 camps each
year, with the hope to do more, depending on available funding. We have
taught approximately 500-700 children how to ride and introduced them to
one of our most important Lakota traditions – the way of the horse. We
also develop and participate in traditional rides designed to encourage
cultural pride and a sense of community throughout the Reservation.

About the performers:

PATCHES AND GRETCHEN
http://www.patchesandgretchen.com/
Don’t let her tipsy, tobacco-voiced delivery fool you: Local songsmith
Gretchen Seichrist is clear-eyed and in control on her second album, a
superb collection of broken down Americana bolstered by Seichrist’s
evocative, goose bump-inducing lyrics.

PAUL METSA
http://www.paulmetsa.com/
Like the Iron Range itself, and Dylan for that matter, Metsa is a
hodge-podge of people, a melting pot of different characters and
performers. He’s a songwriter, a folk singer, a blues singer, a guitarist,
a social activist, a Finn, a storyteller, a comedian, a philosopher, and a
conspiracy theorist.

JAMES LONEY
http://jamesloneymusic.com/
James Loney formed House of Mirrors in 1993 and played shows in the
5-state area with such acts as the Flamin’ Oh’s, The Phones, Soul Asylum
and Golden Smog.  He then left the band to form James Loney & The Velvet
Troubadours and recorded music featured in the Kirsten Dunst film “Lucky
Town Blues” and Jeremy Piven’s “Just Write”.

PAUL PIRNER
http://www.the757s.com/
Paul Pirner is a songwriter and founding member of The 757s, a minneapolis
band whose music–a bastardized blend of the Replacements’
thunder-n-blunder, Guided by Voices’ melodic rip and the Who’s meaty and
bouncy– is dirty, damaging, and beautiful.

SNEAKY PETE BAUER

Coming out of a strong Blues and Old-Folk musical background, “Sneaky”
Pete Bauer plays the music that makes sense to him, original or otherwise.
His shows are a combination of stripped-down instrumentation and field
holler energy.

DONATIONS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED, GREATLY APPRECIATED, BUT NOT REQUIRED!
