Once Upon a River explores the relationship between the Mississippi River and Saint Paul’s West Side, drawing upon real-life events such as the redevelopment of the West Side Flats and the recent silver and bighead carp invasion.
Westside Theatre Project is and artist-led effort to create theater for and with the people of the West Side of Saint Paul. Teatro del Pueblo’s Al Justiniano developed Once Upon a River is based on stories that were collected from community members this past winter.
Justiniano is joined by director Harry Waters Jr. and WSTP producer and composer Becky Dale who has created a completely original score to accompany the show. The rest of the production team includes Ben Krywosz (Dramaturg), Jaclyn Gavin (Music Director), John Bueche (Set Designer), Maria McNamara (Properties Designer), Mark Halvorson (Lighting Designer), and Carolann Winther (Costume Designer).

Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door on pay-what-you-can basis.
